The retirement of Masumi Kuwata, coupled with the now official demotion of veteran Hector Carrasco to minor league camp, leave just four pitchers — Sean Burnett, Phil Dumatrait, Franquelis Osoria, and Rule-V pick Evan Meek.
The Pirates are now down to 27 men in camp — one of whom is injured OF Chris Duffy. Thus, beyond [...]

2008 NLCD Preview

By JSeiner • Feb 24th, 2008 • Category: News & Opinion

Time to take a look at how the NLCD should shape up in 2008
1. Chicago Cubs – The Cubs get my vote for NLCD favorite, just edging the young Brew Crew for a second year in a row. The addition of Kosuke Fukudome (pronounce with caution) bolsters what was already one of the most dangerous [...]

By JSeiner • Feb 20th, 2008 • Category: News & Opinion

The Pirates have signed 29 year old Byung-Hyun Kim to what is presumed to be a major league deal, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. Pirate fans and reporters everywhere are enraged to have to learn to spell another ridiculous name, following the signing of Doug Meintkeiwicz.
Kim went 10-8 with a 6.08 ERA last season with [...]
