Bautista Acquired, Snell to DL

Pitcher Ian Snell has been placed on the15-day disabled list.
By placing Ian on the DL, he cannot return to the rotation until July 8 at Houston.
The move was made to open a spot on the 25-man roster for relief pitcher Denny Bautista.
The 27-year old Bautista was acquired in a trade with the Detroit Tigers for minor league pitcher Kyle Pearson.
Bautista is expected to be in uniform for the game tonight against the Yankees.
Reports are that 24-year old Jimmy Barthmaier will start in Snell’s place Friday against the Rays. Barthmaier is on the 40-man roster, but an additional move will have to be made to add him to the 25-man roster.
And a starter is also needed for Saturday’s game, where it is assumed John VanBenschoten will be recalled for AAA. A roster move will again have to be made.
Look for TJ Beam to get the demotion, and Barthmaier spending one day with the team when VanBenschoten is recalled Saturday.
