Jake's Departure

In early Jaunary of this year, after a post on the Pirates Forum page, I was asked to be a guest writer on this site.  I knew Jake had recently sold the rights to his site and the new owners were looking for guest writers.  While I had zero blogging experience, I decided to give it a shot.  But with limited time, I saw my posts going from 2-3 a week to maybe one, to maybe one a month.

I always felt a little strange posting on Jake’s site.  Not because of anything he said to me, but because it was his creation and I felt people came here to see what he had to say, not what I had to say.

So I started just posting Pirate happenings in the News Section, updating on trades and waiver moves.  I noticed the other guest writers had started to slow on their postings as well.

The owners and Jake have not appoached me about writing here more.  But I do not want to see this site die.  I know a few of you from the forum page would make excellent bloggers on this site, and I’d encourage you to e-mail the owners to see what the deal is with this blog.

In the mean time, I will start posting my thoughts here again, and hope the other guest writers will too.  With Jake’s departure, we owe it to him to keep this site up and running and to continue to be one of the best sources for Pirates news and opinion on the world wide web.  Any suggestions or comments will be appreicated.

  1. Bill,

I admire your willingness to keep this site going but in my view it is up to the owners to come up with a plan for this site and let current readers know. If this doesn’t happen soon, most of us will quit checking this site. Perhaps this site isn’t such a good business idea.

There are lots of blogs on the Buccos and all of them have their merits.

  2. Bill this site for sure needs to continue I love this site check it everyday to see what Jake has to say about the game that night. With the tough time Jake and his family are goin through we owe it to him to keep this site going he put alot work into this site.

  3. Nice thoughts from you concerning keeping the site going. I feel like, if the owners care about the product, they are the ones who should take care of it. No offense to you, but there are several sites that generate more discussions than this one. This has been Jake’s baby, there is no public input from the ownership group concerning what is going to happen and it appears responses are at low point. Time to put it to bed, IMO.

  4. why did jake leave anyways?
