Meek Clears Waivers, Jack Flash Still Hurting

It’s now negotiation time, as right-hander reliever Evan Meek has cleared waivers.
Meek was designated for assignment by the Pirates in order to make room for lefty reliever Sean Burnett.
The Pirates are currently in discussions with Tampa Bay to work out an agreement to keep Meek with the Pittsburgh organization, be it future cash considerations or a trade.
The 24-year old Meek pitched in nine games for the Pirates this year, allowing 10 runs on 11 hits13 innings. He also walked 12 batters.
Also, shortstop Jack Wilson, out since April 3rd (ya, it has been that long) is still weeks away from returning to the line-up. His strained left calf is still not healed.
He’s to go to AA Altoona May 19th, and hopes to return to the Pirates by the end of the month.
