Sanchez signing is official

Pirates second baseman Freddy Sanchez agreed Tuesday on an $11 million, two-year contract with the team that includes an option for 2010 that could make the deal worth about $19 million.

Freddy won’t hit for much power, or steal many bases, or have many RBI opportunities, but on a team in need of someone to root for, Sanchez is it.
